I was asked recently which is my favourite kids bag. I’ve got to say that at the moment I love the Best of friends mini bag.
I was attracted to the fabric for its vibrant colours and use of sparkle. I love that the fabric depicts real life girls – not just your girly girls with long blonde hair looking like a princess but also the trouser wearing girls, the girls with glasses, the girls with short hair and the girls with different ethnic backgrounds. I love that it shows the diversity of kids, yet they can all be friends.
What also makes this my favourite kids bag is its size. It’s big enough for my 5 and 9 year olds to carry, but not so big they’ll drag it along the floor. (Although being boys, they do prefer a little less pink!)
I like giving them a bag when I take them (or sometimes its more like drag them) out shopping. I can use it bribe them by promising they can choose whatever they can carry back in the kids bag. As we found out when shopping for movie night snacks, it was big enough for a DVD, pack of chocolate wafers and magazine but not big enough for a multipack of popcorn.
The fact it is not so big means that even with ‘packing by child’, (where everything gets crammed into the one bag) it’s still not too heavy. If my kids decide that ‘actually mum I am NOT carrying anything back’, then that’s fine, I can just fold or roll this bag up and pop it in my handbag.
